South Harting - Buriton: 8.08 miles - 17,660 steps

A variation on a couple of earlier walks - a bus to South Harting then past the two ponds and on to the South Downs Way - then south on the Sussex Border path to Chalton and then a route I know well to Buriton.

Unusually, I stopped to pick some blackberries, sloes and elderberries for hedgerow jelly that I was going to make in the afternoon. Because of the time taken picking and because I knew that I had a lot to do in the afternoon I phoned Liz who kindly picked me up from Buriton.

It was cloudy and quite warm, not the best walking weather. Much of the route was through woods and I didn't get many good views - one section was marked on the map as being open countryside, but it was all trees! There was quite a bit a water around and one section of the walk - from Chalton to Buriton was very muddy where forestry vehicles had turned a nice grassy path into deeply rutted track.

The OS map shows the path going between the first and second pylons in the field - and it does!

I suppose I was warned - but what a mess they have made of a pleasant, grassy track!

They've certainly been busy!
