Wednesday 1 AugustPetersfield - Stoner Hill - Petersfield- Petersfield: 7.26 miles, 15,873 steps, three hours (including breakfast)I've not done this walk many times and managed to take a wrong turning - just as I had done once before! Breakfast, on the seat commentating Marine Richard Hollington, was fun - I take some meusli and a banana in an old ice cream container then pour some milk over it before tucking in: when I did this today milk went all over my knees (fortunately I was wearing shorts!) - there was a hole in the bottom of the ice cream container! Carefully arranging a finger over the hole I topped up the milk and tucked in. Earlier I saw a deer cross my path. The path from xx farm crossed several paddocks, signed with the words "Don't feed fingers to the horses" - very encouraging, though there were only a couple of horse around and they ignored me. Each paddock was separated from the next by an electric fence with "gateways" that could be opened by unclipping one section of wire from a post - see the photograph below. Some of these gateways had the footpath sign attached to them, so they were on the footpath. There were no instructions regarding opening and closing these gateways and I wonder if they are legal. |
