Petersfield - Liss - Petersfield: 8.01 miles - 17,513 Steps

The first section, from Petersfield to The Jolly Drover at Liss, follows much of the Shipwrights Way - the Shipwrights Way is a 50 mile long distance route which links villages and towns in east Hampshire. The name reflects the use of oak grown at Alice Holt Forest for Tudor shipbuilding.

Starting from Alice Holt Forest, the route passes through Bordon, Liphook, Liss, Petersfield, Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Staunton Country Park, Havant, Hayling Island. It continues to Portsmouth via the ferry, finishing at the Historic Dockyard.

The return section follows a little of the Sussex Border Path - The Sussex Border Path is a footpath route nearly 150 miles long around the inland boundary of the county of Sussex.

It was a pleasant 17C throughout the walk though the sky was overcast. It had rained throughout yesterday evening and the night but it was a very gentle rain and most of it had soaked in and the paths were not too muddy. I found a golf ball on the footpath beside the golf course - another one to give to golfing friend John C!

I noticed that the vegetation had grown up a lot since I last walked this route and it was pleasing to see how the crops, mainly wheat and corn, were doing.
