Stoner Hill - 7.0 Miles

I've only done this walk a couple of times and Liz has never done it. It was overcast at about 12C when we left, but I wore my shorts in anticipation of the sun coming through later - and it did!

There were some sheep and lambs in the field where my oak tree grows

My oak tree in full leaf   The Ashford Hanger - a wooded hillside

Some of the route was along a road...   ... but most was along footpaths

The first pink horse chestnut flowers I've seen this year   Some interesting tree stumps on the side of the path

I detected a sweet, sickly smell, then looked through the hedge to see oil seed rape - fields and field of it! Notice the clouds.

Fences make interesting photographs! Notice that the clouds are breaking up.

We came across some weird-looking sheep - I suppose that their mothers must have loved them!   We also passed through fields containing well-dressed horses - dressed to keep out the flies

There's always a view of Butser Hill

The farm building is new and apparently eco-friendly   Some rather garish beehives - but there were bees in residence

The footpath crossed several wild flower meadows

The views are stunning

Styles: my poor knees!

A dandelion head   An old tree trunk

On the footbridge crossing the A3

We didn't expect to see Zebras on this walk! Perhaps these coats copy Zebra skin to confuse flies - as Zebra skins do
